Collect It

Like many others in Blogland I have to admit to being a bit of a magazine addict. I currently subscribe to four magazine - Homes & Antiques, Country Living, Horse, and Elle Decoration. I don't feel too guilty as I buy them with Tesco reward vouchers which means that they average £10 or £11 worth of vouchers - a bargain as far as I'm concerned! I do of course buy other magazines off the shelf if that month's issue appeals to me.

Over the years I have subscribed to other publications but have stopped buying them for one reason or another. One of these is "Collect It" which I used to buy some years ago but gave up on it as I felt it's main focus was on modern "made to measure" collectables & not the vintage items I love so well.

Anyhow, after having some recent contact with the editor of the magazine I thought I should have another look as it seemed that their interest in vintage was once more on the up.
On Saturday I picked up a copy in WH Smith's & was pleasantly surprised.

This month's issue focuses on tea & cakes so is full of articles & photos of vintage china, Cornishware, Emma Bridgewater, teapots & more. I am pleased that it seems to be including a lot more vintage collectables in it's pages & will be looking out for it again.

  2. Like you, I have Mr Tesco to thank for my subscriptions to H&A and CL - I have to admit I've never heard of this one. Interesting that they have an article on cakes - in my shop I am finding that all cake related goods sell very well - cake plates, cake stands, cake slices etc. I can never find enough of them!

  3. I bought this magazine for the first time this month and was pleasantly surprised. I did think that this month might be a one off with it's vintage theme so will wait and see what next month's is like. I also subscribe to Country Living, Homes and Antiques and Period Living,I love them arriving each month.

  6. I don't think I've ever seen that magazine - it looks rather interesting.

I only have 2 subscriptions - Country Living & Coast - both of which I've had for rather a long time. I try hard not to buy other magazines but often fail ;)

  8. I'm a mag-lover too, but have never heard of 'Collect It' until now, so thanks for that. Also, the article about the comics makes it worth buying the magazine just for that.

  10. I too am a magazine addict and I have to hide them in the trolley when we go shopping and then exclaim very loudly at the till 'How did that get in there?' so my husband is too embarrassed to make me put it back! Collect it is a great magazine and on the Affordable Antiques page is a photo of my friend Carols (vintage treasures) stand at Newark, she always has lots of tempting things to buy.

Jayne, would you like me to send you some pics of the riding jackets, the one is about a 14 so prob too big & the other is smaller but maybe tight when the buttons are done up, for jumping, I suppose it depends on how svelte Tamzin is, very I expect!
Let me know and I can find out the trusty tape measure and give you some more accurate info....

  15. So glad to hear you (and those commenting) like Collect It. I will have a short feature in the forthcoming November issue. It's a great mag that covers a whole range of collectables/retro/vintage/antiques! I had a feature in the June issue, if you have your back numbers to hand.
