Macaroons
After buying the latest issue of 'Delicious' magazine I was dying to try out their macaroon recipe, so I made my first attempt at baking them today....the Aga does make making meringues a doddle.
They were surprisingly easy to make, although I think I used every bowl & spoon in my kitchen & I only used two colours - I couldn't find a raspberry or strawberry extract at the supermarket though - they only had lemon, orange & vanilla....any idea who sells other flavours?
As they were so pretty I had to take them into the sunny garden for a photo shoot.
It was a good excuse to get out one of my glass cake stands & other vintage goodies.
If you fancy having a go yourself you can find the recipe here.

Wow ! They look amazing, just like a photo from a lovely cookery book. I am sure mine wouldn't turn out like that if I tried to make some.

My mouth is watering, they look delicious :)
ReplyDeleteI posted about these last week, I've not attempted to make them myself yet though.

Oh please can I come for tea??!!
ReplyDeleteThey look delish!
Sainsbury's had strawberry flavouring in, we used it for our fairy cake icing, it doesn't taste that good to be honest.
I know where you got your napkins from!!!! I have some too. xxx
P.S. Why hasn't my CK catalogue some yet :-( (jealous lol.)
Wow they do look scrummy. Don't have an aga but will certainly have a go. They will look great on the Easter table.

wow, well done! They look delicious! I always assume they would be the most incredibly hard thing to make! x
ReplyDeleteThey look wonderful. I have Delicious mag and am tempted to give them a go. I've seen some of the flavourings in M&S or Waitrose always has a more varied baking section.
ReplyDeleteI'm trying the chicken stuffed with pancetta and spinach recipe from the magazine for a dinner tomorrow.

ReplyDeleteSo glad you posted the recipe link! There was a recipe in my weekend paper that was horribly complicated (it involved a sugar thermometer)but this one looks much easier.

ReplyDeleteHi Jayne
ReplyDeleteLovely, they look just like the "Maison Blanc" ones that I bought for Tom's birthday!
I will have go,I don't usually bake as I can't be bothered with measuring, but they look soooooo yummy!

I'm extremely impressed. I love the look of these but they are extortionate if you try and buy them in the supermarket. If you say they are easy to make I may very well have a go!
ReplyDeleteOooh, marvellous, good on you, Jayne. I bought the mag a few weeks ago, I haven't even opened it yet (oops) but now you have reminded me that I must. I found strawberry, orange and lemon flavours in Sainsburys today. Let me know if you want any, they're only little bottles so should post easily.

I made the very same from Delicious last week, not in an Aga, yours look truely lovely. I found them a little too sweet. Will use less sugar next time
