Just 2 weeks to go now until the Fair - I can't wait! It is going to be such fun & there will be so many lovely things you won't know where to look first. The hall will be stuffed to the rafters with vintage goodies, handmade wonders & festive delights!
Not to mention delicious tea & cakes to build up your strength for carrying all your finds home.....
I finally had time to make something using my new sewing machine so I made this - a tartan Scottie dog swag for Christmas.

Should I bring some to the Vintage & Handmade Fair?
Miss Cottage has a birthday coming up soon.
"Oh no!" I hear you gasp in disbelief, "you can't possibly have a 20 year old daughter!" ;-)
Well, it seems it happens to us all, but I digress.....
We both like to think of imaginative ways to present or wrap our gifts, so this year I have used pages from an old girl's annual to wrap this gift. I use vintage, falling apart annuals to make my recycled envelopes so always have some lying about.
As the pages are not very big I stuck two together first & then wrapped it, adding some brown ric-rac braid instead of ribbon & made a matching gift tag. The wrapping has cost me nothing but I think it's quite nifty...and thrifty!
This is what a mobile phone looks like after Miss Cottage put it on the roof of the car at the stables while she loaded things into the boot, forgot it was there & drove off. We found the phone the next day quite some distance away - it had obviously been driven over.
This is the second phone she has killed this year - the last one drowned in a bucket of water intended for the pony!
The moral of the story? Put it in your pocket!
When Miss Cottage went off to university in September she needed to take a sewing machine, so off she went with my trusty computerised Brother machine which I've had for about 10 years & does everything except make a cup of tea.
Of course this left me machine-less which is a Very Bad Thing! So, I had to find another one to use. Of course I started off looking at ones with all the bells & whistles & they certainly do a lot these days, but then I thought that I didn't really need two machines that could do all those things (and I have to admit that I don't really use all the gadgets very much anyway).
So, I scaled down my requirements, did a bit of research, tried out a machine or two in a sewing shop & settled on this lovely number - it is basically like my other machine but doesn't do as much or have as many attachments, but all the attachments will fit both machines. I am partial to Brother machines having used industrial machines made by them for years. A few of my requirements are that the machine is sturdy, doesn't jump around, is fast & will sew through all thicknesses & this one met all those needs AND it was on special offer as it is an Anniversary edition, so even better! I do like a bargain....
So, I'm very pleased with the new addition to my sewing room.....as you can see, my supervisor, Pippa, is beside herself with delight too......
