A Black Cat & A Little Bird

It's always very difficult to photograph a black cat, but this morning Purdy decided to turn model & pose for us so you can see her in all her furry beauty. She is 10 years old now - we adopted her from the RSPCA when she was about 10 weeks old.
She is a little cat & very dainty, she is very fond of her family but not of strangers. She has impeccable manners, never uses her claws or scratches & loves a proper "paws around the neck" hug which always results in purring overdrive. She is also an expert mouser & unfortunately, hunter of baby bunnies & the occasional bird, which is why we keep her indoors at night so that she can't stalk all the early birds feeding in the garden.

You may think Purdy has an evil gleam in her eye & it may be because of a new little birdie complete with nest who has come to live with us. A little while ago I entered a giveaway over at Vintage Lifestyle & I was fortunate enough to win it! I received this beautifully presented bag in the post last week.

Inside I found this sweet little bird & nest.

Birdie is now living amongst the Christmas cards safely out of the way of a certain Witchy Kitty!

Thanks for such a lovely treat Kelly!

  1. Congratulations on winning Kelly's giveaway. I was the lucky recipient last year - or maybe the year before. Time flies, so I can't quite remember!!! It was a lovely gift regardless of timing, so I'm sure you'll love yours, too.

As you say, great minds! As you know, these things don't happen overnight, but at last the plans have come to fruition.

  2. Wow...Purdey is the spitting image of my Toby, although Toby is big cat. He has the same eyes and features and he is 11 years old.

My other cat Archie would have that little birdie no matter where I put it!!

  8. That is so strange looking at that little black cat, because we had one that looked just like her and had all your cat's attributes, even down to the paws either side of the neck thing. Sadly, she died VERY young with cance. We even used to call her "witch's cat"!

  9. Hello Jayne

I am a cat person, always have been. They are such wonderful animals. I like Purdy's facial expression, such character! We adopted Lilly and Larry from the RSPCA in January. It is hard seeing so many needing a home and having to make a choice.
It turns out that black cats and black & white cats are people's least favourite choice! I never knew that. It makes no difference to me. That was one of the things that made us decide on Lilly and Larry, they didn't have much going in their favour, the colour and they had had cat flu. No one seemed interested. You could tell they wanted a home, they looked so keen. They have been really affectionate and loving cats, great company. However, vet bills keep coming poor Larry always has something. We have no regrets though

Well done on winning, a great giveaway to win!

    Warm wishes
